Hey there Sleipnirs!
I have been playing a few games lately and I would like to get two games out there in this post.
Those games would be Story of Seasons and Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns!
I need more time for Persona 5 and Danganronpa V3, so bear with me.
As you all know, people who can't seem to find a partner love playing whatever the Story of Seasons or Harvest Moon franchise have to offer.
I'm not exaggerating because if you noticed, the first question ever asked when Natsume or XSeed release footage or information on anything from this franchise, would be who the bachelors/bachelorettes.
The level of interest in romantic partners is outta this world!
Fan arts circulating, visualization of fantasies, fan fiction in play!
It's a nosebleed fest I tell you.
Onwards to Story of Seasons!
I think my character lives with robots.
Sure they have quite a variety of dialogues but they don't seem very engaging nor are they filled with emotions of some sort.
There is really not much going on in town.
People minding their own business, I jump around breaking everything.
In terms of interactions, not much going on.
Graphics and art though, yes, very pretty.
I love the characters.
I like how the colour scheme is not too tacky like in ANB.
However, no unique character in sight.
Like Inari in the next game.
The unique ones only appear in festivals like Woofio.
Character development-wise, not too bad.
I think they grow and they have very interesting backgrounds though not much is revealed.
I mean the villagers' background that is.
For the bachelors/bachelorettes, I know the point is to leave it to the player's imagination but geez man, some solid context for the others would be nice.
Oh Margot.....you are a witch. Witchie should be married and cooking up poison at home, not you.
Anyway, I like how there's an element of variable difficulty in competitions or festivals.
Sometimes I win, sometimes I don't even with full stars or the 'Fresh' status for crops, I think that's great.
It presents a level of challenge and that's the amount of realism I can tolerate.
With that said though, I hate the Conquest system, I would like my plants to remain intact instead of losing them and waiting for days to get the land back.
We have to do battle with fellow farmer rivals whether in highest shipment amount or largest variety of items shipped to get lands on which you can plant specific crops.
Totally hate that!
If you lose, that's it. Wait for your turn and you have to compete to get it back.
If the land is yours, you just have to renew your ownership.
Shipping can be a pain at first but I think that's a motivation for the player to unlock merchants.
You see, you start out with one merchant to whom you ship stuff and they don't come everyday.
So you will be stuck with a day when you have to store your products because you can't sell jack crap due to the merchant not being in town!
Once you have unlocked all the easy ones, you will have merchants in town everyday and it will be like the shipping bin system in previous games.
Lastly, gameplay! I like how farming and animal husbandry are so much easier now!
It's quick so I have time for other stuff on the day!
Unlike previous installments, not enough time in the world!
Now, I can hook up with someone and fish on the same day! WOW!
I have the hots for Klaus, just so you know.
I named my guitar after him.
If you want me to describe this game further, it's fun playing it but has no replay value and game gets boring once everything is unlocked.
Onwards with Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns!
I bought it when it first came out so.......
Oh yes, I got the cutie little capybara which looks sort of like a scrotum! YAY!!!
I named him Kakashi!
Not that Kakashi reminds me of well.....you know...
とにかく! This game is a huge improvement from SoS!
Let's talk characters!
Characters are interesting, they are different, in presentation.
You can feel like they matter somehow.
It's nice to finally have family that I can talk to in-game!
Geeez mom! I have been waiting for you!
It's nice to have a background of some sort!
Speaking of background, we can have a personality or character trait!
Not going to spoil it here but these traits increases your potential or decreases it so have fun with them!
Let's not talk about skin colour. It raises a whole lot of problems, it's not going to change, let it go.
Not the way Elsa did but let's move on.
In terms of interactions, characters are fun to talk to until the dialogue pool dries out like always but still, the element of engagement is there!
Everything is pretty much the same in terms of gameplay! Easy and more time for other stuff.
Can do part-time jobs which is awesome when you need some Gil but have to be done on the day.
Wish real life was that cool.
Can have a Furmiliar which is awesome, because I have always loved animals and want them close.
I can get free items.
Once again, wish real life was that cool.
What can I say about this game?
It's fun and you might feel like replaying it because of the new features after the first playthrough.
If you need any details, Fogu is your friend!
That's all for now!
Until next time Sleipnirs!
